Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Cape Verde: Caldo Verde. This amazing dish from Cape Verde called Caldo verde is a Portuguese Kale soup. The flavors are awesome with the linguica and chourico sausages and the texture with the onions, potatoes and kale was perfect. This is a very flavorful soup that will now be added to my favorites.

  1. Start by peeling and chopping all your veg..
  2. Heat some oil in a large pan or casserole dish..

Cape Verde is known for their morabeza or hospitality. Often this hospitality extends far behind a warm smile and greeting. Cape Verdeans are eager to share with you their culture, history, and most of all their delicious food. I lived on the Cape Verdean island of Santo Antão for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer. Cape Verde is also popular for its spider crabs and bufio, a "rubbery"+ shellfish that's a regular on most plates.
